Dr. Nazareno Paolocci research focuses on cardiovascular disease. He pioneered research that led to an intravenous treatment for late-stage heart failure.

Dr. Paolocci earned his M.D. and his Ph.D. in neurobiology at the University of Perugia in Italy. He completed a residency in clinical pathology at the University of Perugia and a postdoctoral fellowship in cardiology at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Paolocci joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2002.

He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, the American Heart Association and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Scientific Reports and Frontiers in Medicine – Hematology as well as many other journals. His work has been recognized with the Magic That Matters Award from Johns Hopkins in both 2013 – 2014 and 2018 – 2019.
