My research interests focus on the understanding of the circuit mechanisms underlying processes of sensorimotor integrations and on the exploration of circuit manipulation strategies aiming at the imprinting of specific activity patterns. To address these research lines, in the last 10 years I developed and applied investigation approaches to reconstruct and manipulate at cellular resolution the activity of ensembles of cells in awake organisms, taking advantage from an everyday larger toolbox of genetically encoded light-based reporters and modulators of the cell activity. My interest is to complement this approach with computational analysis and anatomical reconstructions to distil predictive models of the behaviour outcome based on the circuit dynamics, sensori- or artificially- driven.
